True care provided by Cedar Ridge
I would like to tell you and your readers about my mother and her “home away from home.” My mother lives with Alzheimer’s disease. I used to say she suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, but really, she is not suffering — she is living. She resides at Cedar Ridge Elder Services in Schofield, where she feels the love, compassion and kindness of the wonderful caregivers there
On Saturday, Cedar Ridge hosts a summer family picnic. There is a cookout, potluck lunch, James the DJ and lots of dancing and fun.
In today’s world, we see many people who treat the elderly as though they aren’t worth their time and effort. Although many find nursing homes to be scary or depressing, I’d like to invite them to come to Cedar Ridge.
I recently attended a cookout, and what took place there was something I can only describe as sensational! Residents were able to spend time with their families, the owners and staff as they listened to great music, danced and made new memories.
I want to thank Paula, Marty, Patty, Elizabeth, Ron, James, and all the staff of Cedar Ridge for giving my mother and her friends at Cedar Ridge a day to remember. For anyone who is loving a parent with dementia or Alzheimer’s, don’t give up hope. There are wonderful people out there who will give your loved one the dignity, love and respect they deserve.
May God bless all caregivers for the special gifts they share so unselfishly. Suzie Lang, (source)
